Made it to Florida….

Made it to Florida….

We departed LuLu’s about 9:30 this morning. It was cold but the sun was shining and it was a beautiful day. We immediately encountered a bit of a problem upon entering the ICW. It’s a blind entry in both directions and LuLu has even posted a big sign that says to yield right-of-way to ICW traffic. Before entering the channel Michael pushed the the horn button to alert other vessels but no horn sounded. He checked the breaker, turned it…

Leaving LuLu’s…

Leaving LuLu’s…

Yesterday was stunning! We woke up to sunshine and warmish weather that stayed with us the entire day! Totally awesome! Went for a walk-about but not much to walk to here. We passed an RV park next to the marina and then saw a car lot. This car lot was amazing. It’s about an acre of old/antique cars, plus a bulldozier, amphibious four-wheeler, small single engine tug boat on a trailer, among many other interesting sites. They were in all…

Still in search of warm weather

Still in search of warm weather

Left Singing River Yacht Club this morning just after 8:00 am under grey skies and cold weather. Past Commodore, Rocky, came down to see us off and assure us if we stayed to the left going out of the channel we should be fine and shouldn’t go aground.  We stayed left, saw 1.8 feet under our keel, and made it out just fine. Not much to see out here again today. We’re on our way to Homeport, Alabama. The trip…

How Low Can We Go??….

How Low Can We Go??….

Left Bay St. Louis, Mississippi this morning about 7:50 am to a beautiful sunny but cold day to continue to cross the Mississippi Sound.  Only saw one tug/barge and one pleasure craft and had really quiet VHF traffic– pretty lonely out here today except for a few pods of dolphins but they were pretty camera shy – couldn’t get a shot of them. On the shore, off in the distance, we could see some buildings here and there and several…

On the road again…..

On the road again…..

Yesterday was pretty boring – still in New Oleans at Seabrook Marina.  Up at about 7:00 am to a small craft warning and cold day. I actually didn’t leave the boat the entire day. I hunkered down, nested and cooked. After breakfast I spent most of the day cooking a pot roast and a chicken dish, so we’re good to go for a few of days. Smelled good and kept the boat warm. The doggies were missing their “Blueberry facials”…

Bugs………

Bugs………

We awoke this morning to rain, fog, and wind- so we’re still here in New Orleans at the Seabrook Marina. Many people who have done this journey before us have said “it’s great to have a plan, but never under any circumstances, have a schedule”.  We absolutely know why they chant that mantra.  We arrived here Thursday (1/17) and had planned to stay just a couple of days but due to weather (mostly wind and seas) we’re still here (1/23)….

Will You Marry Me????

Will You Marry Me????

We’re still here – New Orleans, Seabrook Marina slip 12 Sunday was a day of football and as everybody knows by now – it was quite a day with both play-off games going into overtime. I feel so sorry for New Orleans – the Saints were robbed and it was difficult to watch. Monday was a day of projects. Michael continues to fix lots of things on the boat. I swear that guy can fix ANYTHING. He is truly amazing….

Honey Do’s………

Honey Do’s………

We’re still in slip 12 at Seabrook Marina, New Orleans. Nothing much has happened the last couple of days but completing a “honey do” list and taking advantage of marina facilities. While the boat shower is great –  it was nice to experience the extra space, unlimited hot water and water pressure of the marina shower. I took a very long shower and did the “happy dance”! Then came laundry –  lots of laundry while Michael worked on the generator….

Patience is truly a Virtue….

Patience is truly a Virtue….

Yesterday we were up at about 6:00 in the morning. At about 7:45 we signaled with a long horn toot, looked both ways to make sure a longer-than-two-football-fields-barge/tug wasn’t coming our way, then stuck our nose back into the intracoastal for a long day to New Orleans.  It was drizzling and continued to rain off and on all day. Ran into lots of hyacinths everywhere in the water – it was pretty boring. We passed ship building areas, then some beautiful…

Tug 646×72 Threads The Needle……

Tug 646×72 Threads The Needle……

Took a little break but will catch up – otherwise I forget what happened. Sorry this post will be a bit long….. On Monday morning we were up at 6:00 AM – that’s what time this commercial facility gets going. Although there are no amenities here we had a very pleasant night. I did see an out building that said men’s/women’s restrooms but didn’t go in. When I went to the office to settle up I noticed they had a…
