Reunited…..

Reunited…..

More than a year ago (May 2020) we hauled Scout out of the water and put her on-the-hard. Once hauled out, covered up and secured, we said good-bye, left St. Mary’s, GA and headed west to Bend, OR. As mentioned in our last post, Michael and I were both diagnosed with cancer and we decided to seek treatment in Houston, TX at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Arriving in Texas on October 22, 2020, we began our treatment. Long story short, many treatments later, and thanks to the wonderful hospitality of our Houston family, we are finally able to take a break.

We arrived in St. Mary’s a couple of weeks ago and have reunited with Scout. Yay!! St. Mary’s is part fishing village with a dash of charm. The Waterway Guide says this is one of the oldest cities in the US and we’ve enjoyed exploring the sights and tasting fresh seafood.

Michael has been working diligently to get Scout ready to go back in the water to restart our journey. He’s changed all the oils, all the filters, installed 12 new batteries, new battery cables, overhauled the starter motor and painted the bottom. And the list goes and on and on.  I, on the other hand, have mostly stayed at the motel suite in air conditioning with the doggies.

We have taken a few road trips to Amelia Island, Jekyll Island and St. Simons Island -all were charming and fun.

We need to be back in Houston in early October and mid-December for follow-up, so we’ll do some boating and have some fun in the meantime.  We have a plan, but no schedule. We’ll just move north, until we decide to turn around and head back south.

Oops, as I sit here working on this post I’m looking out the window and it’s started pouring rain. I’m also keeping an eye on the news to see where hurricanes Fred and Grace are going. Remember….no schedule (?).

Will keep you posted. We really miss you all and would love to hear from you!!!

    1. Hi Janie, Sorry for the delay! Still having trouble getting everthing back up and running after losing the total Blog! Thought we had things but we were wrong – no auto email notification…. Hopefully this gets to you.

    1. Hi Barbara, So nice to hear from you. Yeah, it does feel great to be on the water again. You’re right those 12 batteries were VERY heavy! Michael rigged up a “pulley” system to get them on board, then man-handled them in place. It was a major project and I feel like he is an animal.

  3. Hi Sharon! This just popped up in my email. So happy to hear that you and Mike are back on the water… albeit it hurricane season😮! Your pics look wonderful. Glad to see you’re having fun🙆‍♂️

  4. Awesome news, you both look great. We are happy to see the 4 of you out moving around in public. Hopefully we can catch up with you sometime next year.

      1. We’re waiting on the contract. Carl could be leaving for San Diego as early as Oct. I’m planning on returning in Nov or Jan pending on covid cases and quarantine requirements in Singapore. We plan to come back to Singapore from San Diego hopefully in time for the Chinese New Year on Feb 1st (early this coming year as it follows the Luna calendar).

    1. Hi DeAnn, so nice to hear from you. Sure do miss our workout sessions. Totally not able to do the 60 “man push-ups” I was doing, with your help, before we left San Diego. Slowly getting back into an exercise program and getting stronger.
      Hugs,
