Yep, we’re moving again….

Yep, we’re moving again….

After two weeks of being tethered to a slip at New Bern Grand Marina and Yacht Club, we were raring to get Scout back out on the water and continue our adventure. Tuesday (8/27) morning we released our lines, called the bridge tender to request the Cunningham Bridge be opened, then headed north. We decided to make our way to the Outer Banks before heading to the Chesapeake Bay. Our first stop was an anchorage called Broad Creek #2 outside…

Bye Bye Campbell Creek…

Bye Bye Campbell Creek…

We had a wonderful three night (8/9-8/11) stay with Beth and Rip in Campbell Creek. Left this morning (8/12) around 7:30 for Oriental, NC then on to New Bern, NC. Prettier…Prettier…and Prettier……

We spent three nights (Tuesday 8/6-Thursday 8/8) on the hook in the cove at the Island of Ocracoke, NC. The first night was delightful. So calm, quiet and beautiful. Who says there’s no free lunch?….

Monday morning (8/5) we waited for the bridge restriction (6:30-8:30 am) to lift, requested an opening, and departed New Bern Grand Marina and Yacht Club at about 8:45. We had decided to set out and explore the “Outer Banks” area. Rather than travel one reeeaaallly long day we decided to break it up into two shorter days which meant following our tracks back to Oriental, NC. We remembered there were a couple of “free” docks just a few hundred feet…

Lights on…but…no one home….

Lights on…but…no one home….

We’ve been in New Bern, NC since Monday, 7/30. As I mentioned previously, you just never know what to expect before arriving at a new anchorage. Sometimes it’s better, sometimes worse and sometimes just different. As we approached New Bern Grand Marina and Yacht Club (it’s not really a yacht club) we were surprised to see remnants of a marina to our port side that was destroyed by hurricane Florence. Once secure in our slip we hopped off the boat…
