Jekyll Island Georgia

Jekyll Island Georgia

Well, it’s September 15th and we’re still enjoying Jekyll Harbor Marina. Actually, we love it here!  The marina is small and privately owned with about 50 slips. Everyone is over-the-moon nice, the restaurant has delicious food, and the venue is just what you’d expect to see in the south with canopies of massive centuries-old, moss laden, oak trees, meandering walking paths, picnic tables and seating scattered about and lots of grass for the doggies.  Oh yeah, and HOT/HUMID days with…

Splash….

Splash….

Friday morning, August 20th we checked out of our motel and arrived at the boatyard at 7:30 AM where the boat yard crew was ready to splash us. Scout was hung in the travel lift slings the night before so Michael could finish the bottom paint. Once we lugged the rest of our belongings up the ladder and onto the boat, we were ready to go, and at 8:00 AM, we were eased into St. Mary’s River, headed to the…

Reunited…..

Reunited…..

More than a year ago (May 2020) we hauled Scout out of the water and put her on-the-hard. Once hauled out, covered up and secured, we said good-bye, left St. Mary’s, GA and headed west to Bend, OR. As mentioned in our last post, Michael and I were both diagnosed with cancer and we decided to seek treatment in Houston, TX at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Arriving in Texas on October 22, 2020, we began our treatment. Long story short,…

Bye Bye Scout…..

Bye Bye Scout…..

Hi all. We hope this finds you all safe, healthy and happy. When we last chatted (5/3) we were in St. Augustine, Florida sorting and packing all the stuff we brought on the boat that we really didn’t need. On Monday (5/4) morning we departed to Fernandina Beach Marina, arriving around 2:30, after of seven hours of travel. As we approached the marina, we noticed a couple of mega yachts docked on the end tie. One was Big Eagle, which…

Bye Bye Keys…..

Bye Bye Keys…..

Sorry this is such a long post……. Sunday, April 26th around 10 AM, we left Bonefish Marina to start our journey, on the outside, in a thunder storm. Why, would you leave in a storm you might ask (as did I). Well, you’d have to ask my husband for the detailed reason, but, something about “getting ahead of it”. We saw lots of lightning and heard even more thunder and we were bouncing around pretty good for about an hour….

What’s Next????

What’s Next????

Hi All. We hope this finds you safe and healthy…….. It’s April 22nd and we’re still in our little Bonefish neighborhood in Marathon Florida. We feel very fortunate that we’ve been able to move around a little and be out in the sunshine. We’ve taken Scout-About to the little private beach around the bend several times. Much needed recreation for humans and doggies. On Thursday, April 16th, we took Scout to Sombrero Light, a local hangout, about an hour away where…

Prisoners in Paradise….

Prisoners in Paradise….

Hi All! We hope this finds everyone safe, happy and healthy! We are still stationary in Marathon, FL and feeling a bit like “prisoners in paradise” in our little neighborhood known as Bonefish Marina. It’s beautiful here and the weather has been pretty much ideal, hovering in the 70’s and 80’s. We share the marina with half dozen other live-aboards and the people living in the three-story condos on either side, affectionally called “cliff dwellers” by the marina folks.   We…

Things are Changing…

Things are Changing…

Boy how life has changed in just a week. We are still in Marathon, FL and will continue to hang here for a while longer…. Just after my last post we were told our marina was closed – no more incoming transient boats! The next morning, we were informed that the County of Monroe, which is ALL of the Keys, ordered a shut-down on all short-term rentals (hotels, vacation homes, RV parks, marina’s, etc.).  The order issued (3/19), stated that…
