For my gal pals…..

For my gal pals…..

We’ll be here in Annapolis through the weekend as the wind direction and speed makes it wiser to just stay put. The last couple of days, Tuesday (10/8) and Wednesday (10/9), have been pretty quiet. We’re just relaxing, walking around the neighborhood and doing boat projects. It’s been overcast and cool, so I’ve had to pull out socks, sweaters, jackets and long pants as temperatures have been ranging from the 40’s to 70’s. Less than a week ago we were…

Oh no, Is Scout jealous again????

Oh no, Is Scout jealous again????

We arrived in Annapolis a little after noon on Thursday (10/3). As we approached the Annapolis Maryland Capital Yacht Club (not really a yacht club) we noticed that our slip was at the very end of the fairway, which was quite narrow, only about 50 feet wide. It also had other moored boat’s bows and sterns encroaching into it. Not only was the fairway tight but the slip was also tight. Michael managed to get Scout turned sideways to put…

Hinckley Yachts are beautiful….

Hinckley Yachts are beautiful….

We stayed at the Corinthian Yacht Club in Ridge, MD through (Friday, 9/27) because of the strong northerly winds. Mostly stayed on the boat and relaxed. The nice thing about this location is that it’s rural and peaceful. The downside is that it’s rural and peaceful so there’s nothing to do. Brian (the measurer) and his wife, Mary, came by the boat this evening and offered to take us to the Dollar General and invited us to breakfast tomorrow. How…

Another State in our wake…

Another State in our wake…

Tuesday (9/24) was spent in Onancock relaxing, enjoying the view and walking into town, plus a few boat projects thrown in. Today more businesses were open, so I explored the shops then Michael and I went to lunch at Janet’s which was delicious.  In the afternoon we took Scout-About for a cruise through the surrounding area. The water was still, the shoreline densely wooded and picturesque homes were peeking out through the trees along with lots of wildlife. It was…

Gunnel to Gunnel……

Gunnel to Gunnel……

Spent the weekend (Saturday 9/21, Sunday 9/22) in Deltaville, VA. Our slip provided a lovely view of the channel from our aft deck and salon. All week we watched about a dozen fishing charter boats leave port in the morning around 7:30ish and return in the afternoon around 3:00, there wasn’t much more boat traffic than that. On Saturday morning the “pleasure craft” showed up going every which way. It looked like a four-lane freeway! That continued all day Saturday…

Butts to the wind….

Butts to the wind….

Woke up to a decent day today, Saturday (9/14) and decided to leave Yorktown, VA about 10:00 and made the short half hour trip back to the comfort of Wormley Creek Marina. Boy, is it calm and quiet here! Completed a few boat projects, did laundry and relaxed in the pool. Anxious to start exploring the Chesapeake Bay, we left Wormley for Cape Charles VA around 8:50 on Sunday (9/15) morning. It was a nice easy ride across the Chesapeake,…

Stripping an Re-dressing..

Stripping an Re-dressing..

Even though we weren’t negatively impacted by Dorian we did prepare for the worst by totally stripping Scout. I can tell you, taking down isinglass, washing and storing it is waaaay easier than unpacking it, polishing it and putting it back up. We spent most of the day Sunday (9/8) on boat projects – re-dressing Scout, putting things back where they were and cleaning out flybridge lockers that got wet from the rain while she was stripped down. Michael also…

Dorian is gone…..

Dorian is gone…..

Good riddance big guy. We have seen the devastation you left in the beautiful places we had just visited. Fortunately, we’ve been hunkered down in the Wormley Creek Marina in Yorktown, Virginia since Tuesday (9/3). The weather here was beautiful on Wednesday (9/4) as Dorian continued to head our direction. On Thursday (9/5), still experiencing calm sunny weather, we prepared for the worst as Dorian was due to arrive on Friday. We had groceries, wine/beer delivered, filled up with fresh…

Hello Virginia….

Hello Virginia….

Labor Day Monday (9/2) was a beautiful overcast and cool morning in Manteo, NC as we pulled away from the dock around 7:00. We knew we were in for a long day, but it couldn’t have been a better travel day. Along with overcast skies we had calm seas, light winds and temperatures of 75-80 degrees.     We said good-bye to North Carolina and said hello to Virginia around 1:00 pm. As we cruised up Haynes Creek, we encounter lots…

Should I stay….or should I go now…?

Should I stay….or should I go now…?

As the song goes…..If I go there will be trouble….and if I stay it will be double.  (We are going to go). We love this little town of Manteo and had planned to stay for a little while longer, but it appears that we could get an uninvited guest soon. It’s Sunday (9/1) and it’s an absolutely beautiful day but we’ve been watching the weather reports closely and, unfortunately, as of today, it looks like Hurricane Dorian could reach the…
