For my gal pals…..

For my gal pals…..

We’ll be here in Annapolis through the weekend as the wind direction and speed makes it wiser to just stay put. The last couple of days, Tuesday (10/8) and Wednesday (10/9), have been pretty quiet. We’re just relaxing, walking around the neighborhood and doing boat projects. It’s been overcast and cool, so I’ve had to pull out socks, sweaters, jackets and long pants as temperatures have been ranging from the 40’s to 70’s. Less than a week ago we were experiencing temperatures in the 98- degree range.

My last post mentioned my new $275 “do” and a couple of my gal pals asked for photos, so I’m posting some family photos. Michael also got a haircut yesterday. His cut cost $14. Hmmmm….

Also, we told you about getting a new VacuFlush head. One of our good friends, who is very knowledgeable about such things, poo-poohed (pun intended) that system. He says they can leak, etc. We did quite a bit of research on the different systems and today decided to go with the VacuFlush because of parts availability. How many of you are still reading this post?

Thursday (10/10) was another beautiful day in paradise. A little chilly but beautiful and sunny. The walk around the neighborhood and the farmer’s market and an Instacart grocery order delivery rounded out our day.

The VacuFlush people, J Gordon & Company, Inc., have a slip for us next to their office, so we left Butler’s on Friday (10/11) morning for the half-mile cruise to our new home. We stopped on the way for a pump-out and arrived in our new slip around 9:45. We’re still in the same East Port neighborhood and are starting to feel like locals now. Snooki and Duke now know all the other dogs on their morning walks.

The Annapolis US Sailboat Show started yesterday, so heck, why not go see what’s new in the sailing world. My big purchase – a book – “Storing Food without Refrigeration”. Just in case we need it, again. The show was well attended and great fun! On the way home we stopped by the Annapolis Yacht Club for a cocktail on the patio of their beautiful new clubhouse. Their previous clubhouse was destroyed by fire. In December 2015 a Christmas tree caught fire and destroyed the building. We heard that the staff was at work preparing for the annual Parade of Lights when it happened. Fortunately, except for one minor injury to a firefighter, everyone was OK, both in the evacuation and fighting the fire. AYC completed renovation of the new building in September of 2018.

It’s Saturday (10/12) and we’re just hanging out. There’s a huge high tide here and the fixed docks around us are under water, as are some of the streets (see the photo of Michael walking on water). Thankfully, we’re on a floating dock so we’re fine. The “head” installation starts Monday, so we’ll continue to hang out and enjoy the cooler weather and beautiful Annapolis. We’ve just taken Scout-About down for a tour so we will keep you posted……

  1. Sharon, your haircut is great. I look like that every morning when I wake up. It’s free! We have a Vacflush on our Ocean Alexander, and so far it works just fine. Does someone at the Annapolis Yacht Club still shoot the cannon every evening? Great photos of the King Tide!

    1. Hey Barbara,
Thanks for the haircut comment. Ha ha.
Yeah, I think the VacuFlush will be fine.
I don’t know if someone shoots the cannon off daily. We head a cannon one evening when we were at the other marina but thought it was from the boat show. Will listen for it now that you have mentioned it. Also we will probably stop by the Club again so will ask.

  2. Hi Sharon, great pics! Love the one of Mike walking on water…lol! I like your new “do” but it sounds like you got the cruisers price! I’d always ask before booking. I guess you’ll do that from now on. With respect to your head (not your head, head:), I think you’ll be fine with your new vacu flush. Ours has never given us one bit of trouble. It looks like you two are still living the life! Lots of cute restaurants and yacht clubs. Keep on having fun!

    1. Hey Michelle,
Thanks for the comments. You are right about the cruiser’s price and I will have a price discussion before making my next appointment.
We are having fun living the life and will try to keep having fun. Are you in Hawaii?
