How Low Can We Go??….

How Low Can We Go??….

Left Bay St. Louis, Mississippi this morning about 7:50 am to a beautiful sunny but cold day to continue to cross the Mississippi Sound.  Only saw one tug/barge and one pleasure craft and had really quiet VHF traffic– pretty lonely out here today except for a few pods of dolphins but they were pretty camera shy – couldn’t get a shot of them. On the shore, off in the distance, we could see some buildings here and there and several casinos in the Biloxi area. As we approached the Singing River Yacht Club in Pascagoula, after about five and a half hours of travel, we slowed way down as the depths kept getting skinnier and skinnier – we actually saw 1.9 feet under our keel. Wow, I think this is the lowest we’ve seen so far– How Low Can We Actually Go?  Tied up to the Yacht Club guest dock and settled in then discovered we were sitting on the bottom as the tide continued to go out. Several very nice yacht club members came down and suggested we push back to avoid being on the hard bottom. So we re-positioned ourselves as suggested and got a little water under our keel so hopefully were’re good  for the night. They said it’s a soft mud bottom so we’ll see if we can get out of here tomorrow morning.

We decided to forgo the cute little town of Fairhope in exchange for traveling straight through for the warm weather and blue water while we have this good weather window. So tomorrow, if we can get out of here,  we are headed for Homeport, Alabama.

  1. How many feet are the tides? At least you have mud bottoms there. I hope you get some warm weather soon. Tuesday night is going to be 28 degrees in Pensacola, according to the Weather Station and 18 mph NNW winds.
    Stay snug and warm.

    1. Looks like the tide is only a half foot lower this morning. Yeah, we made it out without touching bottom.
Yep, seems to be cold everywhere. Will have to find some place to hunker down…..Will keep you posted.

    1. Thanks Michelle. Hopefully you guys can join us at some point along the way.
Congratulations on your fabulous promotion. Ms President!!!
