We left Brunswick Landing, Brunswick, GA on Wednesday (12/4) morning about 8:25. Well Michael almost left without “yours truly”. As I was releasing the lines and Michael was backing out of the slip, I was a little too slow getting back on board – and didn’t make it. It was quite breezy, so he had to do a round-about to come back and get me. Oops. There was quite a bit aof commercial traffic as we exited, and we had…

Expecting a Hyundia or kia for christmas?

Expecting a Hyundia or kia for christmas?

Our trip to Brunswick Landing in Brunswick, GA was easy, just very, very long at around eight and a half hours. It seemed longer than that, probably, because there wasn’t much to see along the way – mostly all low marsh land. Oh, except for the submerged car carrier just outside the entrance to Brunswick. Yep, a sunken car carrier. Rumor has it that on Sunday, Sept. 8th the 656-foot car carrier Golden Ray from Korea, carrying over 4,000 Hyundia…

Ahhhh…..A Friend Fix!

Ahhhh…..A Friend Fix!

Wow, time got away from us – and no post recently.    We arrived in Georgetown, SC on Wednesday (11/13) and decided to stay a week. The weather was cold and rainy, and, I must admit, I’m a bit of a sloth (a grumpy sloth) when I’m cold and wet. If I’m going to be freezing, I want skis on my feet. Ugh! Michael handles the weather much better and takes the dogs for their doggie business several times a…

Brrrr……..

Brrrr……..

It’s COLD here on the east coast.  We stayed at Seapath Yacht Club in Wrightsville, NC through the weekend (11/8-11/10). Since there’s not much within walking distance we took advantage of the courtesy van and headed to Wrightsville Beach about three-quarters of a mile away. On arrival we discovered that we would need to find parking and walk a block to actually get to the beach. It was way too cold for that, so we passed it by and went…

After consulting our weather peeps, we decided to stay in Manteo, NC for the weekend. It was breezy, overcast and cold all weekend, so we mostly stayed on the boat. This is a vibrant town with several up-scale shops, art galleries, restaurants, etc.  So, Saturday afternoon we ventured out for lunch at the Lost Colony Brewery and Café then I wandered in and out of most of the stores. No buying just looking. Up early on Monday (11/4) morning, we…

Southern Migration….

Southern Migration….

Had to say good-bye to the lovely Hampton Yacht Club this morning (Monday 10/28). At about 8:30 we headed south to Atlantic Yacht Basin marina in Chesapeake City, VA. This meant we were also leaving the Chesapeake Bay after an exciting two months exploring and enjoying her wonderful sights. Our route took us right through Norfolk, VA which is a big busy harbor full of big ships, tugs, barges, etc. On the VHF radio we heard something like – this…

Bottoms Up…..

Bottoms Up…..

Today, Friday (10/25), we had Scout hauled to clean and inspect her bottom. Even though we have a diver about once a month “we” haven’t been able to see her under carriage since we left Kemah, Texas in January. So, onto the lift and out of the water she went, then the staff at Wormley Creek Marina (and Michael) scraped off barnacles and power washed the brown crud. When the job was complete I could hear Scout singing….my heinie’s clean…..my…

Miles River Yacht Club on Monday (10/21) morning was still rainy and windy when we got up so we weren’t sure if we would go or if we would stay today. We consulted Mike’s girlfriend, “Windy” and my boyfriend “Noah”, (NOAA to most folks) and they said it should start to clear by 8:00 am and be a good travel day. Lo and behold around 8:00 the sun started to peek through the clouds and the breeze started to die….

Melt Down……..

Melt Down……..

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (10/14-10/16) were spent at the Eastport Yacht Center getting a new VacuFlush head system installed. Hmmm, a new head in our head. And, yes, it did cost about as much as it would to remodel an entire bath in our home. But, hey, no more loud noises or smelly odors when flushed. It’s, bigger, quieter, has a soft close seat and, now, fresh as a daisy. On Sunday (10/13) I had a bit of a melt-down….
