Rain, Rain,Please Go Away….
It’s been raining non-stop yesterday and today. We’ve decided that the time has finally come to get this party started. Is everything on the boat perfect? Heck No…..but at some point you just have to throw off the lines and GO. The weather, on the other hand, is not cooperating. Not only is it raining non-stop with flash flood warnings, it’s freezing cold and the forecast is for winds out of the NW gusting to 20+. When the winds come from the N/ NW it sucks all of the water out of this Marina. Last week we saw several boats literally sitting on the bottom! It gets really “skinny”in here and we can’t get out of the channel. So we’ll have to wait and see when we can leave.
Missing you all at the Holidays……Anyway, as I sit here and watch and listen to the rain I’m reflecting about how much I missed all of our holiday activities We missed finding and decorating our Christmas tree and remembering where each ornament came from. We missed planning, cooking and sharing Christmas Dinner with you. We missed planning, taking doggie photos and creating our Snooki/ Duke Christmas card (attached is a past years card – couldn’t resist). We missed sending out those cards and thinking about each of you as we addressed the envelopes. We missed all of the holiday parties and sharing the joy with you. WE TRULY MISS YOU…….But we are on to an exciting adventure and hope some of you might join us along the way.
Merry Christmas from the Bythewoods aboard M/V “Scout”

You are on your way to create GREAT new memories. This is very exciting! Safe travels my friends. Miss you too!
Thanks Mariane.
Hoping you find good weather and fair seas ahead. Change is hard even if you are having fun. Enjoy the adventure! VIcki and Kenyon
Thanks Vicki and Kenyon. Yeah, not having a schedule is taking some getting used to. But we are adjusting!
Wow, sounds exciting. I’m reading this while soaking in the hot tub in the class of wine. 😁
We had our first one one at one (Jan,1 at 1 pm) with friends from the hood. It wasn’t quite the same without the Bythewood’s.
Thanks for the email and we will follow the blog. Have safe travels, and a great new year!
Thank Jeff and Nancy,
We really missed everybody in the neighborhood especially during the holidays.
All the best….
Looking forward to traveling with you vicariously!! Keep the news coming!
Happy New Year!
Pam
Thanks Pam,
Will keep you posted. Say hi to the Bunkettes for me.
What an amazing way to start the New Year! Can’t wait to see some pics of your travels. Have fun & enjoy!
Thanks Michelle,
Yep, we’re ready to throw the lines off and find warm weather and blue water.
I remember trips on the inland waterway with marinas like that and current running at 5kt when you could get in and out. A real challenge for us Californians that don’t see those conditions. Patience is a virtue I didn’t get blessed with, but a valuable one in your situation! Relax with a good book you’ve had on your list for years
Keep us up to date as you go along. We’ll live vicariously. 😘
Thanks Chuck,
Yes, this is very different from the California waters we are used to. Did I mention tug boats with lots and lots of barges – Yikes!
Patience is indeed needed on this adventure….
Great to hear from you and see your new home! Stay warm and dry and hopefully the weather will turn allowing you to embark on your new adventure! We look forward to seeing and hearing all about your travels.
Thanks DeAnn,
Yes, we would love to find the warm weather. Think about you and Sharon C every Wednesday and Friday morning. Ha Ha.
The hardest but the best part is throwing the lines off! The work will never be done. Hope you guys find a good window to bolt outta there!
Thanks Annie. Excellent advice….
We hope to throw those lines off next week!
Nice looking Blog and Boat. The weather will start cooperating soon – it’s even raining here too. Hopefully Mike has more than 1 pair of socks.
I’d like to hear more about your travel plans on “the loop”. . . or perhaps as in Mexico they are written in sand at low tide. Have fun, every memory is a good one.
Hey Penny,
You’re way too funny. Michael does have more than 1 pair of socks and our plans, at this point, are indeed written in the sand at low tide.
